Hello lovelies! New admin speaking. (:

I’d just like to introduce myself briefly. My name is Alyssa. I’ve been lucky enough to be handed this admin position. I’m currently learning about how to run this blog so if you have any suggestions, suggest away! There is also another admin, Amber. A friend of mine actually thought of it :)

It’s supposed to stand for femme-affirmations, meaning being affirmed by another femme or affirmed in your femme identity.

I already have one co-mod who is a mentee, and I am looking for one more who is a mentor. You would be responsible for answering questions, posting mentor bios, and matching up mentees with possible mentors.

I’m definitely femme and I’ve struggled within a few different circles with that because I get told I’m doing it for the “male gaze” or whatever, but even if I was? That’s okay as long as a part of me is doing it for me! And I definitely do it for me, too as well as other people (yes! people, all genders benefit from me if they like femmes :P). I’ve came a long way and I definitely accept myself for who I am.

femme mentor submission

i’m Ari and i write for the blog navigatethestream. My PGP are she/her. I’m queer fat femme from Chicago, but i currently attend college in western Massachusetts. I identify as being a Muslim womanist. My goal in life is to find or help cultivate manifestations of social justice issues within communities of colour as prominent narratives and not narratives subsumed by a larger non-inclusive framework. I would love to be a mentor to those wanting to draw inspiration from the rich culture and history femmes of color have to offer the world, specifically the ways in which we have challenged dominant notions of femme identity and subsequently been game changers within our own right. this applies to both self identified femmes of color or those looking to broaden their horizons!

While I was queuing all those other mentor apps, I completely forgot about my own!

Well, I am a white, cisgender queer tough femme from the midwest. I grew up working class but am now in this weird class space, being in grad school but still having a poor background. I have anxiety that I am learning to live with, and recently came out as having an eating disorder. I find that as a fat person, eating disorders are encouraged and even celebrated in my body. I am actively trying to combat that.

I am studying educational policy studies, specifically looking to make schools safer for trans* and gender non-conforming youth. I have a kitten named Arthur and the best femme friends ever.

Hey my name is Kristen, I’m 23, and I am currently in University studying Honours Psychology. I’m a lesbian femme, and I’m getting married to the most amazing girl in August.

In highschool I struggled with 2 eating disorders [anorexia nervosa, and bulimia nervosa, I suffered from insomnia, I was a self injurer, and I’m an abuse [physical, sexual, and emotional] surviver. I’m part Native, Italian, Australian, and Canadian.

On a happier note, I have an unhealthy addiction to Scrabble.

Hi! I’m Julia (pretty—ood) and I would love to be a mentor :) besides femme, I ID as queer, genderfluid/agender (female pronouns), and fat. (also, if you’re into Harry Potter, I’m a proud Hufflepuff. <3) I’m into body mods, nail polish, music, cooking, theatre (stage tech!), sociology, makeup, sci-fi/fantasy, comics, and politics. For a long time I identified way more on the butch side of the spectrum, and I still read as butch on most occasions. Growing up queer in Tennessee was interesting at best and shitty at worst, and I’d love to be able to help someone going through the same kind of thing, regardless of location. I have experience with depression (my own, SO’s, friends’, and family members’), severe anxiety, self-harm, dysphoria, self-esteem issues, and ADHD.
(not too into the picture but it’s about 4:30AM and I didn’t have any with my new hair)
